Back for the fourth edition, the fun (if gruelling) 3 Peaks Challenge returns from 8 to 10 September 2017. If tackling Cape Town’s holy trinity of mountain peaks – Lion’s Head, Devil’s Peak and Table Mountain – is your idea of a good time, lace up, and get hiking. Registration is free, and your friends, family, children and pets are all welcome!
Are you up for it?
This epic challenge starts on Friday, 8 September, departing Lion’s Head at 5pm sharp – so bring a flashlight. Post-hike, you have the option of joining fellow hikers at The Odyssey Gastropub on Bree Street, for some drinks and grub from 7pm onwards.
Saturday is all about Devil’s Peak, so head along the Table Mountain Road for an 8.30am meet-up and 8.45am start. Pack breakfast to enjoy at the top. After the hike, head to Deerpark Café for a lovely lunch.
Then, finally, on 10 September, cap off your weekend with a hike up Table Mountain. Again, it’s an 8.30am meet-up for the 8.45am start. After this final summit, participants are free to explore Table Mountain, and enjoy a celebratory L7 craft beer at the Table Mountain Café with fellow hikers, friends and family.
And, if don’t feel like walking down afterwards, then catch a ride on the cable car. (The last cable car leaves at 6pm.)
Set your own pace
Although the goal is to tackle three peaks in three days, it’s all about doing what you can manage and in your own time. So, first and foremost, enjoy this fun challenge, get to know some new people, and explore Cape Town’s amazingly scenic outdoors while you’re at it.
And, while it’s optional to hike all three peaks, we rather like the challenge of successfully conquering three peaks in three days… Let’s do this!
