Voted one of South Africa’s top 10 wine events, the Hermanus Wine & Food Festival is back this year for a weekend of tasting, buying and culinary indulgence. The Hemel en Aarde Village in the heart of the Hermanus wine route is a relaxed, airy and informal setting that’s suitable for the whole family.
Blends, reds, whites and bubblies from local internationally famous wineries such as Hamilton Russell, The Giant Periwinkle, Thelema Mountain Vineyards, Creation Wines, Spookfontein Wines, La Vierge, and many more, will be on show in the Wine Tasting Hall. Wines tasted will be available for purchase at cellar-door prices, while local restaurants and delis will have delicious food on display.
Fancy something other than wine? The festival lounge will house eight brew masters with over 30 craft beers and ciders on offer as well as several micro-distilleries showcasing their innovative and oh-so-tasty gins.
A dedicated children’s play area will keep the little ones entertained with activities such as face painting, jumping castles and more. Leaving the grown-ups to tap their feet to live music (and enjoy a spot of vino).
From August, it’s whale season in Hermanus, so while there, take the opportunity to go whale spotting. Also don’t forget to make your bookings for the Hermanus Whale Festival happening in mid-October.
