Four days of dance, music and poetry by local and international artists.

Infecting the City is an annual free arts festival that happens across the city of Cape Town. Its aim is to make visual and performing arts accessible to the public, with four days of free performances.

Now in its tenth year, this cultural phenomenon is taking over the city from 5 to 8 April 2017. From poignant and thought-provoking recitals to humorous and curious performances, items on this year’s programme include pieces from local as well as international artists.

Featured artists that we’re excited to witness on the 2017 lineup include: Mandla Mlangeni; Aphiwe Mpahleni; Joan Català Carrasco (Spain); Moeketsi Koena and Gaby Saranouffi (Madagascar); Enkidu Khaled (Iraq-born, Belgium-based); Philiswa Lila; Yazeed Kamaldien; Sita Suzanne & Alex Trapani; Tamryn Pelser; and Mandla Mbothwe.

The festival’s shows, recitals and presentations happen across the city, and performances can be experienced as part of a route, or independently. Infecting the City’s 2017 full programme will be released in batches, with venues and times being revealed closer to the time.
