Prawn festival at the Kenilworth Racecourse 2017

Prawn festival at the Kenilworth Racecourse 2017

Tuck into a platter of prawns for just R169 (per kilo).

Racing enthusiasts, seafood lovers and those just looking for a good old skop in the sun should head over to the Kenilworth Racecourse for the Grade 3 Vasco Prix Du Cap (a 1400m fillies race), and a feast of delectable prawns on Saturday, 25 February 2017.

At this year’s Prawn Festival, a kilo of tasty prawns costs R169, served with either rice or chips and sauces that include peri-peri, lemon butter and garlic butter. As part of the day’s entertainment, DJ Mark Ranger will set the mood, and there’ll be a beer garden and competitions, with prizes worth R50 000 up for grabs. Bring your children! And let them enjoy all the entertainment specially planned for their enjoyment – while you gorge on shellfish.

If you’re looking for more than just prawns and chips, enquire about the R450 buffet in the Somerset Room, or the R1 450 buffet for in the Kenilworth Room in the main building (For enquiries and bookings, call 021 700 1600).

    Good day.
I just came from the 2017 prawn festival. I am not happy at all. The prawns are less than what I got last year. I actually came home to weigh it because eating and even with the rice it only weighs 600g.
That is what I call a rip off. I even asked the lady at the kiosk how they weigh it and she assured me that it is def a kilo.

Was there in 2016 and it made for a terrible experience. Prawns were horribly tasteless and drenched in oil and served on a heap of rice. What will the organisers be doing this year to improve on the poorly organised event of last year?

Tents4Events have bedouin tents that would provide shade in this heat.
