It’s winter and one of our favourite spots on the Atlantic seaboard is hosting its popular Dinner and Movie evenings (R525 per person) – perfect for date night or an evening with friends. The lineup of films ranges from Classic Hollywood to Family Fun and there’s even a Local is Lekker selection.
The evening begins with a three-course meal at the hotel’s Azure Restaurant – which happens to be on our Most Romantic Restaurants in Cape Town list. Executive chef Christo Pretorius has put together a three-course menu especially for the event that includes baby calamari risotto with tentsuyu broth, Cape Malay chicken curry and barbecued pork belly with black pudding, spring onion and sherry prune jus. Pescetarians and vegetarians are catered for, too – with the sustainable fish of the day, salt-baked beetroot salad with beetroot mousse, or the sweet potato gnocchi with burnt-apple purée.
Diners then move to the private cinema where dessert is served before the main feature begins. The treats don’t end there! Throughout the movie there are plenty of snacks on offer, because, let’s face it, what’s a movie without popcorn?
If you think you might be too relaxed to drive home, you might want to book the Overnight Dinner and Movie package, and stay over at the hotel for the night. The whole experience ends the following morning with an opulent breakfast, including freshly harvested oysters and sparkling wine (from R1 730 per person sharing per night, including dinner, movie, snacks and breakfast).
