The Fantastic Grifizzi Brothers’ Carnival Rolls into Stellenbosch

This crazy and colourful carnival comes to Stellenbosch, offering everything from caravans and acrobatics to live music and food trucks.

Created by Richard Griffin and the talented Madame Zingara team, The Fantastic Grifizzi Brothers looks set to bring a whole new stage and carnival experience to Stellenbosch from 5 to 27 August 2017.

Roll up! Roll Up!

Following their inaugural stint in Fish Hoek, the brothers will be bringing a fanfare of fun to the Van der Stel Sports Club in Stellies this August. Imagine a Bohemian-style field filled with all sorts of wondrous attractions, including a double-decker-bus-come-restaurant, food trucks, bars, a barber shop, fun rides, caravans, trailers and an animal-free circus in the Big Top tent.

Representing on the food side, there’ll be Khumalo’s Meat House and Tavern ( a braai experience); Gourmet Gypsy’s Bohemian Bus; the Fish Shack and Café, as well as a number of food trucks selling a range of tasty bites (including vegetarian and halaal options .

And, you won’t go thirsty, with several bars dotted around the place, including the cool Barber Shop mirror tent, open till late.

To the moon and back

Kids will delight in The Story of the Moon, a charming story about the moon and her quest to be as happy as the circus folk she watches from up above. Directed by Marc Colli and Christine Chapman and conceptualised by Richard Griffin, the show features a star cast of performers (from South Africa and abroad) who will be showcasing acrobatics, drumming, Argentinian boladeros, slapstick comedy, a mesmeric quick-change act and, even, contortion.

It will be presented in a traditional, imported Italian Big Top, and the running time is around 1.5 hours (including the interval). This fun show is sure to be enjoyed by children, teens (and adults, too).

The Fantastic Grifizzi Brothers is open on from 5 to 27 August, from Wednesday to Sunday. Student Night on Wednesdays offers a two-for-one deal (upon presentation of a valid student card) – with beer and wine available for R10 between 4pm and 6pm.

Book now for this out-of-this-world extravaganza of live music, edge-of-your seat acrobatics and technicoloured fun.
