Franschhoek Bastille Festival 2017

Franschhoek Bastille Festival 2017

Dust off your berets and don your finest, red, white and bleu…

It’s the Franschhoek Bastille Festival, one of the most fun-filled food-and-wine extravaganzas of the year! The place to be is the Food and Wine marquee – in the grounds of the famous Huguenot Monument – where you will find delicious wine on offer, as well as ample parking. Within easy walking distance of the festivities is Franschhoek’s main drag, where some of the best eateries await…

This year, the Porcupine Ridge Barrel-Rolling Competition and dedicated children’s corner are back. The entire village will be hive of activity, with musicians and carnival artistes, performing in and around the Farmers’ Market, adding to the festive vibe. And, once you’ve settled in, try your hand at a friendly game of boules – naturallement!

Your R280 ticket buys you a complimentary tasting glass and a booklet of five tasting coupons to be used on the day. Additional coupons can be purchased at the event. It’s advised to buy your tickets in advance, as they may not be sold on the day once the marquee is full.

One Response to “Franschhoek Bastille Festival 2017”

We booked overnight to get a good parking close to the entrance of the Bastille festival which we managed to achieve before going for breakfast at 10:00….

The seating was mostly taken and having a mobility impairment, I am not able to stand for long periods of time….

The place was overcrowded and there was not a designated smoking area causing the smokers to stand close to the edge of the centre marque creating an uncomfortable situation for non smokers….

The barrel rolling was outside the tents allowing the public outside to enjoy the “festivities”….

There was a competition to win a dstv explorer which was not even mentioned at the entrance….

A young lady then came around and asked if any of us at the table had a dstv explorer….

All responded that they don’t have a dstv explorer….

I could then see the excitement of having the opportunity to win a dstv explorer but that was not the case….

The young girl then said that we should get a dstv explorer….

We were informed later that there was a parade in the town with a marching band and “drummies”….

I am disappointed for the amount of money that I had to spend for overcrowded unpleasant experience….

    Not Impressed
