La Boheme Wine Bar & Bistro lives up to its name. It’s a European-style eatery (decked out with disused wine barrels for that rustic Provençal vibe) that has been dishing up delicious dishes since it opened in 2009. The menu, casually displayed on a blackboard, changes daily according to the availability of produce (and the chef’s imagination). In addition to the flavoursome fare, the extensive by-the-glass winelist (of over 60 varieties) has something for everyone.
Two- and three-course set menu
There are six starters and mains to choose from, the most popular of which are the chicken-liver parfait, served with toast and red-onion marmalade (starter) and the pork belly with mash, fine beans, spinach, caramelised apple and cider jus (main). Two courses go for R185 and the three-course option, which includes a dessert, costs R215. Undoubtedly one of the cheapest gourmet meals in the city.
