The charming Cummings Guesthouse – which spans across several identical, adorable buildings at 20 Cummings Street – is a little oasis in the midst of the quiet, peaceful farming town of Wellington.
Peace and calm in the countryside
Set along a beautiful street, Cummings Guesthouse is a breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of the city. Scenically enclosed by majestic mountains and verdant vineyards, it embodies the essence of the rustic, laid-back life, which we “city slickers” have long since lost touch with.
With 12 rooms, Cummings accommodates up to 24 people: there are six B&B rooms, five self-catering units and one family room, all of which are en-suite and air-conditioned (a sweet relief from warm Wellington in summer), equipped with DStv, a bar fridge, coffee and tea tray and hairdryer. There is also free wi-fi, a large outdoor swimming pool, secure gated parking and, on request (for an additional fee), guests can order lunch boxes, dinner, airport shuttles, laundry and babysitting services.
The value-for-money breakfast (R70) is served in the dining room, but because we had to make an early start, we didn’t stay to enjoy it.
We left Cummings feeling relaxed and well-rested, with the memory of this sleepy Cape dorpie, and the natural charm and gentleness of the Cape countryside fresh in our mind.
R800 (double room)
