Game drives at Villiera Wines

Miss Earth SA

There’s some seriously spectacular wildlife to be spotted, less than an hour out of Cape Town.

Just outside the award-winning Villiera wine estate in Stellenbosch, the Villiera Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a large wildlife population of kudu, springbok, antelope, giraffe, zebra, black wildebeest (and more). On its 220-hectare grounds are 12 dams and various marsh areas, which are regularly visited by a dazzling array of birdlife.

Two-hour game drives around the reserve, watching these animals in their natural habitat, are an exhilarating experience. And if you’re game (pun intended), finish it off with a wine-tasting and cellar tour next door. (Pssst: cheese platters go for R55).

Insider tip On Saturdays, the wine-tasting and cellar tour happens before the game drive, so you’ll need to arrive one hour earlier at 12pm.
