Bungalow 52: A Chic Holiday House on Clifton Beach

Bungalow 52

Welcome to wonderland by the sea.

Twenty steps… that’s all it takes and you’re on the white sands of Clifton 4th, the most iconic beach in Cape Town. The setting itself is reason enough to book this spot, but it’s also been beautifully designed to bring to life the fantasy of an idyllic seaside family holiday.

Let’s play

Bungalow 52 Braai

There’s a hammock and loungers on the dreamy deck for lazy afternoon daydreaming, a pool with spa jets for relaxing dips or lolling on a lilo (it’s heated and illuminated, for night swims), plus a shady patch of lawn for yoga or picnics, or for the kids to pitch a tent, and a braai area for lighting up the coals around sunset.

Picture perfect

Bungalow 52 Dining Room

The light-filled interior ramps up the fun, too, decorated in gorgeous coastal colours and filled with contemporary furniture, artworks and whimsical figurines that appeal to young and old alike – there’s a distinct mermaid theme, and quite a few cartoon-like dogs.

Bungalow 52 Living Area

Downstairs, the media room is equipped with both a smart TV and a retro LP player (with a library of cool vinyls), plus beanbags and a daybed. This cool submarine-like space has a window that looks into the pool above, so you can watch the real-life mermaids at play in the water.

Little luxuries

Bungalow 52 Bedroom

Designed over three levels, with the bedrooms on the top floor (the main ensuite has its own private sea-view balcony) and the main, open-plan living area below, it has more than enough space and secret nooks for everyone. Egyptian cotton linen and organic bath products add that special touch of pampering.

The bungalow is perfect for entertaining and feasting, with a spacious deck, a bar area and a eight-seater dining table. The gourmet kitchen has a Gaggenau oven and a double-door wine fridge (fully stocked and complimentary).

Bungalow 52 Beach

From early-morning shoreline strolls (before everyone else arrives) and joining the beach action to the most spectacular sunsets and the constant soothing sound of the waves, Bungalow 52 is every beach-lover’s dream. It’s close to many of Cape Town’s main attractions, but we bet you won’t want to budge!
