Smalltown tranquility.
Situated on the corner of a quaint residential road, a stone’s throw away from Franschhoek’s buzzy centre, Macaron Boutique Guest House offers countryside comfort while still remaining close to the town’s sought-after scene.
Housed in a beautiful Victorian home, the intimate guesthouse offers nine rooms spread over two buildings. And, despite its central location, the property features a large garden, with two pools, imbuing an undeniable sense of tranquility, making it a wonderful Franschhoek escape.
Named after the most delicate of French pastries (and the most difficult to perfect), the guesthouse prides itself on the utmost attention to detail, from the dreamy decor in each room, to the attentive staff and special service. Let’s just say this is one stay you’re going to love tucking into!

The larger suites boast a desk and sitting area, with some housing a fireplace.

Above and beyond
During winter, a fire roars in the cosy lounge, where blankets and a selection of board games are on display for your choosing. On warmer days, lounge by the private lap pool on a deck chair, or cool off with a quick dip.
A full continental breakfast is served each morning in the lounge or on the terrace. In addition to a lovely selection of cereal, yoghurt, fresh seasonal fruit and array of cheese, bread, cold meats and juices, guests can order a hot breakfast of your choice.
In the evening, take a stroll to one of the world-class neighbouring restaurants, before returning to the comfort of your room to find the curtains drawn, your bed turned down, and the following day’s weather (complete with a chocolate and a cosy hot water bottle in winter) resting on your pillow.
It’s the sense of escapism and undeniable comfort combined with the proximity to Franschhoek’s high street that made my stay at Macaron so enjoyable.
