Two Enchanting Garden Cottages in McGregor

McGregor Garden Cottages

Settle into the pace of small-town living.

The hidden-away hamlet of McGregor has a special energy. As a visitor, you can tap into this with a stay that feels like a sanctuary; a gentle, soulful, tranquil space that invites you to slow down, take off your shoes, relax and reconnect.

It comprises two self-contained cottages separated by a gorgeous courtyard and a long, thin sliver of a pool – an “edible” eco pool, no less, with the water cleaned by plants which you can harvest for your meals (think mint, lemongrass, strawberries). There’s also a vegetable and herb garden ripe for the picking.

McGregor Garden Cottages Living Area

Ideal for two couples or a small group of friends, offering both privacy and social spaces, it’s the perfect spot to settle into the pace of small-town living.

Natural zen

McGregor Garden Cottages Interior

The decor is minimalist yet quietly luxurious; the palette almost all white, like a blank canvas. There is very little here to distract from the sense of calm. High ceilings and lots of windows make it feel spacious and uplifting; instead of curtains, there are shutters.

Natural materials abound – from the comfy, oversized linen couch, wooden fittings and potted plants to the origami-like light fittings and throws, blankets, scatter cushions and thick towels from Barrydale Weavers. The adjustable SLOOM beds promise the best sleep you’ve ever had.

McGregor Garden Cottages Outside Area

The lush garden is dotted with benches under trees, for daydreaming or meditating, and in a corner there’s a greenhouse-style tunnel furnished with a rustic table and tree-stump stools should you want to dine alfresco. Spend a day dipping in and out of the pool, punctuated by sessions in the infrared sauna, for a spa-style wellness experience.

Beyond the gate, the village’s quaint streets, lined with irrigation channels and bougainvillea, and its friendly, creative community await discovery.
