Chefs Warehouse Opens in Franschhoek

Chef Liam Tomlin opens his fourth restaurant at Maison Estate in Franschhoek.

If seven of the country’s top chefs – including Michelin-starred Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, Luke Dale-Roberts, Eric Bulpitt, Brad Ball, Rudi Liebenberg, Franck Dangereux and Reuben Riffel – rate Chefs Warehouse among the best restaurants in Cape Town, you can be sure that it is!

Which is why we were super-excited to hear that Chef Liam Tomlin has opened a new restaurant in Franschhoek! The newcomer, which moves into the space formerly occupied by The Kitchen at Maison Estate, brings chef Liam’s tally of eateries to four, joining Chefs Warehouse and Canteen on Bree Street, Thali in Gardens, and Chefs Warehouse at Beau Constantia in the Chefs Warehouse stable.

Driven young chef David Schneider, who has worked alongside Liam at Chefs Warehouse on Bree Street, and with Ivor Jones at Chefs Warehouse in Constantia, is heading the kitchen and, as with Liam’s three other wildly popular restaurants, the emphasis will be on serving superb “global tapas”, as Liam calls them, accompanied by the estate’s excellent wines.

“Joining forces with the beautiful Maison Estate in Franschhoek is a great fit for Chefs Warehouse,” says Liam. It just feels right.”

Liam’s team will also take over the running of the estate’s deli and homeware shop, as well as the tasting room.

    Ate at Chefs Warehouse @ Maison a week ago. Was BLOWN AWAY. The food was simply fantastic, and each of the the portions generous and of the highest quality, the ambience was amazing, and the staff was just sooo wonderful and sincere. It is something we will do as often as we can. The Chef interacts with all the guests when he has a moment, which really brings in a total new dimension. You just feel part of everything and at home. Well done to all!!!
