1. Twilight Christmas Market at Blaauwklippen Vineyards

From the organisers of the popular Blaauwklippen Family Market comes the annual Twilight Christmas Market – a reminder of everything that makes Christmastime so special: handmade gifts, beautiful food, twinkling lights, live music and even a visit from Father Christmas himself!
When 16 – 20 December, 5pm – 10pm
Why you’ll love it In addition to all the handmade food and craft products, the wine centre will be open. Here you’ll find the Before & After aperitif – a sophisticated brandy-fortified liqueur, which at R235 a bottle makes a lovely gift for a loved one or even yourself. Also worth a visit is the carriage museum filled with goodies such as preserves, biltong and handmade Belgian and Swiss chocolates.

2. Thingz Festive Season Shopping Markets

The Bay Harbour Market is hosting two themed festive markets this month: on 6 December, the Man Thingz market is all about gifts for the men in our lives, while the 20 and 21 December Kids Thingz fair will be chockful of amazing items for younger members of the family.

Why you’ll love it The themes allow you to be very focused in your gift shopping. There will be 80 traders, including artisanal food stalls, nine beer taps and live music, allowing you to chillax, while searching for the perfect gift.

3. House and Leisure Night Market

A selection of 50 of the top local designers and artisans will be displaying their wares at this festive night market. With an array of jewellery, fashion, decor, wine and food, you’re sure to find the perfect gift. To add to the cheery atmosphere, there’ll also be live music.

4. All Star Christmas Market

The All Star Theatre is once again hosting a Christmas market at the Cape Lifestyle Centre in Brackenfell. Over 120 local traders will have their homemade and handmade crafts on display.

Why you’ll love it This community-focused market has loads of entertainment for the whole family, including a coffee shop, kiddies corner, giveaways and even a gift-wrapping service.

5. Root44 Christmas Market

This all-weather market is housed in a marquee – just in case of the Cape’s unpredictable weather! Here you’ll find artisanal food such as olive oil, spreads and freshly baked goodies, you’ll as well as antique items, leather goods, funky T-shirts and children’s clothes.

20 – 21 December, 10am – 4pm
Why you’ll love it Make a day of your visit to this fun and festive market. 6. Stanford Xmas Sunset Market

Located on the old village square (which has heritage-site status) in Stanford, this market transports you back to a bygone era, when villagers convened in the town square to chat with the farmers and other traders.

7. Eikedal Christmas Market

This Constantia market is packed with homemade delicacies such as marmalades, biscuits and sauces, as well as homeware items such as paintings, antique cake stands, wooden furniture decor, clothing and accessories.

Why you’ll love it This market’s relaxed atmosphere is perfect for a leisurely Sunday morning or afternoon. In between shopping, snack on a Pickwick potato, shawarma, falafel, Hungarian smoked sausage or something from the German stall.

8. Lourensford Christmas Market

This three-day market is part of the Harvest Market, where you’re sure to find the perfect gift at one of the many welcoming stalls.

Why you’ll love it With a patch of lawn in the centre of the stalls, and stunning mountain views, this market provides a wonderful setting for doing some shopping while enjoying some delicious food and wine.
