Run by the passionate Delport family for seven generations, Kempsrivier Farm, just outside of the historic town of Caledon, is an established and fully operational sheep, cattle, fruit and wheat farm. It’s here, tucked away in a fynbos-dotted valley amid rolling hills, that three country cottages offer nature-loving travellers a complete escape from it all.
Generously spaced a kilometre apart for a heightened sense of peace and privacy, and each boasting their own wood-fired hot tub, the three self-catering units (namely the lodge, cottage and villa) are luxuriously rustic and utterly comfortable, providing exactly what you need for a rejuvenating stay with family and friends.
With two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, spacious living room, indoor and outdoor dining areas with a braai, an indoor fireplace and a shaded patio with a private hot tub, you’ll have everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The views from the hot tub (and the living area and patio) are some of the most spectacular around: a lush-green valley of rolling green hills as far as the eye can see, with your own private dam a stone’s throw away.

Birders will be in their element with the magnificent birdlife that includes blue cranes, black eagles (hence the name) and Cape sunbirds. And, if you’re super-lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the highly elusive Cape leopard.
There is a surfeit of wine farms in Botriver and the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, and the Hermanus town centre (only a 30-minute drive away) is, of course, brimming with shops, beaches, art galleries and restaurants. Not that you’re going to want to leave the farm…
