Chefs Warehouse is, without a smidgeon of a doubt, one of the top restaurants around. So, it’s hardly a surprise that the Franschhoek branch of Liam Tomlin’s esteemed restaurant family is considered one of the hottest eateries in the Winelands, deserving of all the bragging rights and fanfare it receives.
Helmed by chef David Schneider (who worked alongside chef Liam and Ivor Jones at Chefs Warehouse in Constantia), the restaurant occupies a vineyard- and mountain-facing space on Maison Wine Estate, and is known for its superb “global tapas” accompanied by excellent wines in sophisticated surroundings.

Your unforgettable day out will begin with an intimate wine-tasting experience in the stylish cellar lounge, where the warm, passionate and knowledgeable staff will take you through the lip-smacking Maison wine range – including fruity chenin blanc, sophisticated chardonnay and the multi-award-winning shiraz.
Then, once you’ve selected your favourite vino to accompany your lunch, you’ll be seated outside on the sunkissed patio, or under the oaks in the garden, for a gourmet tapas feast overlooking the vineyards.
Chef David Schneider’s locally sourced and foraged menu features a farm-fresh take on contemporary cuisine, where hand-selected meats, quality cheeses and local produce have been expertly married to create exceptional sharing plates (that you may struggle sharing!).
The tapas menu changes often, but diners can expect an array of seasonal vegetables, breads and preserves, seafood and meats/charcuterie. There are also vegan options available.
