In the Jonkershoek Valley, surrounded by beautiful gardens, verdant vineyards and dramatic mountain vistas, Lanzerac has been the go-to place for Stellenbosch celebrations for generations. Dating back to 1682, its historic Cape Dutch Manor House and cellars resonate with a centuries-long history of hospitality, a tradition that continues in the estate’s flagship restaurant, the Manor Kitchen.

A sense of grandeur

Open and expansive, with lofty ceilings, sparkling chandeliers, large lead-glass windows and a general sense of grandeur, the Manor Kitchen buzzes every evening with hotel guests and locals, here to enjoy a fine-dining experience. On Friday and Saturday evenings chef Stephen Fraser and his team craft exquisite culinary masterpieces with a seven-course culinary journey, complete with wine-pairings selected by sommelier, Fundiswa Ziqubu.

A seven-course culinary journey

The menu comprises reimagined classics that feature seasonal, locally sourced ingredients for a succession of bold local flavours. Each dish is paired with wines from Lanzerac’s Jonkershoek, Keldermeester Versameling and Heritage ranges.

After a welcome glass of cap classique and canapés on arrival, segue into Saldanha Bay oysters with tomato, basil, chorizo and caviar followed by beetroot and goat’s cheese with charred orange. A salmon and tuna mosaic with carrot, orange and coconut completes the succession of starters. A palate cleanser then leads into a honey-glazed pork belly, followed by a saddle of lamb with rosemary duchess potatoes. And a finale of a tropical delight of meringue, passion fruit, coconut and mango. Each course is perfectly paired with Lanzerac wines.

The winner’s name will be drawn on Tuesday, 3 December 2024, and the prize is redeemable on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6 December 2024 until 2 December 2025 (subject to availability; pre-booking essential). The total prize is valued at R2 400, and includes a seven-course dinner for two paired with Lanzerac wines.
