Eco design

The eco hotel’s five beautifully spacious rooms (four face the ocean, and one boasts mesmerising dune vistas) were designed by Dutch interior designer Janine Butter, who used nature’s tranquilising palette as her inspiration to create modern, serene spaces that echo the landscape.

Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors open onto a narrow balcony, revealing a 51-kilometre stretch of beach and the ocean beyond, which becomes a daily playground for southern right whales every year between July and November. A sea-facing daybed, cosy fireplace and lounge area make it hard to leave your room, but should you wish to explore the beautiful surrounds, you can do so with a bevvy of wonderful activities.

A relaxed routine

After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, you have the option of joining one of the knowledgeable guides for a marine walk, relaxed dune stroll or a nature-drive excursion to explore the reserve. Swimming, snorkelling, bike rides and sand-boarding are also on offer. And, of course, there’s the pool deck, complete with a hot tub – the only place to be on chilly evenings.

The winner’s name will be drawn on 14 April 2025 and the prize is redeemable from 1 – 31 May or from 1 July – 31 August 2025 (subject to availability). The total prize is valued at R33 200, and includes a two-night stay for two people sharing a suite, all meals and drinks, and two guided activities per day (which are shared with the other guests).
