Tucked among trees in the Elgin Valley, alongside a peaceful dam with a white-sand beach, this retreat is perfect for any season – whether you cosy up inside your trailer with a hot-water bottle and a book in winter, or relax in a hammock, Huckleberry Finn-style, with a cocktail from Daddy’s Beach Bar in the summer. Booked months, often years, in advance, it’s no wonder this heavenly hideout is featured on many a local’s bucket list.

The 12 wonderfully quirky vintage Airstream trailers each have their own theme: For Better or Boerewors, Give Bees a Chance, and Dirkie Sanchez, to name a few, and are kitted out with a double bed and en-suite bathroom, a comfortable living space and a private deck or garden.
While you’re there, try your hand at archery, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and fishing. Or simply head to the dam for a day at the “beach”.
The Lebanon Mountain Biking Trail (requires a R30 permit) is a great one for adventure seekers, while the pool, with its stunning valley views is the place to be on sunny days. There are wine farms aplenty in the surrounding valley, but with The Barn Restaurant & Bar offering wholesome country fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner, there’s no reason to leave.
