Ah Paternoster, the tranquil West Coast village where rows of whitewashed fishing cottages are dotted along endless stretches of sandy coastline, and an abundance of wonderful restaurants, outdoor activities, and picture-perfect places to stay await.
One such spot is Sugar Shack – a quaint self-catering beach house, built in the style of a fisherman’s cottage, that oozes rustic charm, with its ocean-themed decor and simple, architectural lines.
The relaxed interior features three comfortable bedrooms (two of which are en-suite, with a third bathroom adjacent to the third bedroom), an open-plan kitchen (complete with Kitchen Aid equipment and Le Creuset pots) and a spacious lounge with an indoor fireplace.
The house lends itself to long afternoons spent playing board games, while upstairs, a sunny deck overlooking the rocky shoreline is the perfect spot to tuck into a seafood feast while gazing at the turquoise horizon.
The covered verandah, overlooking a small olive tree garden, keeps the West Coast wind at bay, while the beckoning hammock is perfect for nodding off to the sounds of the sea after a leisurely braai.
