On a strawberry farm situated between mountains, forest and sea on the famed Garden Route, Woodlands Villa is a beautifully renovated heritage farmhouse that offers an enchanting stay. With a wonderful, large kitchen at the heart of the home, four ensuite bedrooms (with doors leading outside to private patios) and three fireplaces to keep things cosy, it’s the perfect place to settle in, switch off and enjoy the surroundings.
It’s spacious enough to find a private nook when you feel like it, and to accommodate happy group gatherings over delicious meals (the outdoor dining table is sure to be well-used). The vast wraparound verandah will draw you in with its mesmerising views; the manicured garden has a lovely firepit/braai area and large lawns with plenty of space to play. There’s also a games room with table tennis and a pool table.
Beyond, there’s a whole farm to explore and a forest to discover (including a magical firefly experience by night). Mountain bikes are on hand, and canoes to use on the dam – which also has a deck with waterside seating… sundowners sorted. Guests can enjoy a customised berry-picking experience, or a game drive on the neighbouring farm, plus many of the Garden Route’s adventures and attractions are nearby.
Get creative
The berry farm is also the picturesque setting for the new Clay Café George, opening at the end of August. A heritage building has been turned into a haven of creativity, where you can decorate your choice of ceramics while enjoying a delicious meal and drinks. It’s perfect for all ages, and the café’s countryside surroundings are sure to inspire a masterpiece or two. There’s also a play area and garden for energetic youngsters.

Woodlands Villa seems like an absolute paradise for a nature-loving couple like my wife and me. The combination of its serene location on a strawberry farm along the Garden Route, surrounded by mountains, forests, and the sea, is simply breathtaking. The thought of staying in a beautifully renovated heritage farmhouse with cozy fireplaces and ensuite bedrooms that open to private patios is incredibly enticing.
We’re both fans of outdoor activities, and the fact that there are mountain bikes, canoes for the dam, and even a firefly experience in the forest during the night makes this place a dream come true for us. The wraparound verandah with mesmerizing views and the well-maintained garden with a firepit/braai area only add to the charm. We can already picture ourselves enjoying delicious meals at the outdoor dining table, surrounded by the beauty of nature.
As someone who loves playing squash (not my wife – just me :), cycling, swimming, and hiking, the availability of a games room with table tennis and a pool table is the cherry on top of an already perfect retreat. And to top it all off, the opportunity to enjoy a custom berry-picking experience and explore the nearby adventures and attractions of the Garden Route is something we’d eagerly look forward to.
Also, the mention of the new Clay Café George on the berry farm sounds like a delightful experience. The idea of decorating ceramics in a heritage building while relishing a delicious meal and drinks is quite appealing. It’s wonderful to know that there’s something for everyone, from creative endeavors to energetic play areas for youngsters.
Overall, Woodlands Villa seems like the exact kind of place where my wife and I could switch off, rejuvenate, and immerse ourselves in the beauty of nature. We’re truly excited about the possibility of experiencing this dream getaway and participating in the competition for a chance to win.
