It’s been one of our favourite haunts for after-dark cocktails, Arabian-nights-inspired alfresco dinners and cool beats for over a decade – and one of the reasons that Kloof Street remains so popular – so when we heard that Asoka was adding an exciting new event to its weekly calendar, we simply had to go and hear for ourselves.
Jazzing it up
Following the success of the popular Tuesday-evening jazz sessions, the vibey restaurant has introduced another weekly jazz installment: Sundays Live. Patrons can expect two hours of cool, sultry sounds from an ever-changing live quintet, with regular appearances by singer Jeremy Douglas, all masterminded by Mr Keys (Jason Reolon).
Pull up a seat under the legendary fairy-lit olive tree, and feast your ears on the easy-listening tunes, while savouring unique cocktails and sharing-style small plates.
There’s hardly a better way to wash away the blues than with a Sunday evening filled with uplifting jazz.
