New Year’s Eve at The Athletic Club & Social: 1920’s-Style

There is hardly a better place in Cape Town to celebrate New Year’s Eve than with a Roaring Twenties- themed soirée at the Athletic Club & Social. Steeped in history dating back to the early 20th century, the building served as an underground speakeasy for sports fanatics of all races to come together over an old fashioned or two.
Fast forward to 2019, and the space is laden with plush velvet furnishings, vintage sports equipment and hand-painted, penny-farthing-themed wallpaper.
This New Year’s Eve, dust off your flapper dress, Daisy, and put on your pinstripe suit, Jay, for an evening of 1920’s decadence, complete with champagne and live DJs like Vinni Bellini, Charlie Schoemaker and Nick Birby. It’s Baz Lurhman’s The Great Gatsby come to life.
Good to know Tickets include a welcome drink, light canapes and a glass of MCC at midnight.
