If, like us, you can’t resist (fatty chunks of wet) biltong, get to Perdeberg Cellar just outside Durbanville for the fifth annual Pinotage & Biltong Festival. Then, get ready to taste a range of spiced biltong products accompanied by some of the country’s best pinotages – all of which will be available for tasting and buying.
Food for all
This year, Afrifoods Biltong and Butchery is presenting a range of beef, venison, chicken and bacon biltong to pair with the pinotage selection – and droëwors (obviously).
And for those looking for more variety, you won’t be disappointed! Various food trucks and stalls will be on site for revellers to line their tummies. So grab a seat under the trees, or on the lawns outside the cellar, and enjoy a glass of the good stuff while listening to live music by The Wildberries.
This year’s pinotage selection includes rosés, bubblies, blends and even some white pinotages from the following 18 participating wineries: Badsberg Winery, Bellingham Wines, Beyerskloof, Brampton Wines, Delheim Wines, Doran Vineyards, Flagstone Winery, Franschhoek Cellar, Grande Provence, Hill & Dale, Lanzerac Wine Estate, Mellasat Vineyards, Neethlingshof, Old Road Wine Co, Balance Wines, Perdeberg Cellar, Simonsvlei International and Wellington Wines.
Your ticket gets you a branded crystal wine glass, a pairing card for 18 of the pinotage-and-biltong tastings and free tastings of around 30 other pinotages.
Feeling like splurging? Take advantage of the new VIP experience, which includes private, dedicated seating, a welcome drink and light meal on arrival, as well as afternoon coffee and sweet treats (all for R500)! Either way, come dressed in purple and white, and snap a few pics for social media, as the funkiest outfits will win great prizes.
So round up your crew, and get ready for a relaxed day out.
