Boschendal Winemakers Dinner Series Soil-to-fork Cuisine

The Boschendal Winemaker’s Dinner Series takes guests on an epicurean journey of discovery. Hosted by executive chef Allistaire Lawrence and his brigade, winemakers Jacques Viljoen, Andiswa Mapheleba and Danielle Coetzee, the dinners take place at The Werf Restaurant every first Thursday of the month. Each month will be hosted by a different collection of chefs and winemakers ensuring an unforgettable, intimate experience for diners.

With many of the ingredients grown on the farm and meat reared onsite, or procured from nearby local small-scale producers, this is soil-to-fork cuisine at its most authentic. Expect a three-course menu and a bread course, accompanied by a variety of equally luscious estate wines specially chosen to best match what’s on the plates. Both winemakers and chefs will be on hand to answer questions and share insider anecdotes about various aspects of the meal.

Running from 1 September 2022 to April 2023, the menus and wines will change every month, depending on what’s in season and freshly picked – which means, for passionate foodies, an exceptional new experience to look forward to on a regular basis. Booking is essential.

Here’s a peek at the first dinner menu:

Starter Seared tuna (or beetroot steak – vegetarian option), with coriander velouté and lemon and cucumber salad topped with toasted sesame seeds
Wine De Werf Chardonnay
Main Smoked duroc pork neck steak (or fire-roasted cauliflower – vegetarian option), with a white bean cassoulet, baba ganoush and dukkhah spice
Wine Elgin Pinot Noir
Dessert White chocolate ganache tart with milk chocolate ice-cream and cinnamon sponge
Wine Vin D’Or
