A Hairy Harvest Celebration: Bot River Barrels & Beards 2017
Celebrate the harvest with big beards and bountiful tables.
By The Inside Guide • 05 April 2017
Around an hour’s drive from Cape Town lies the cool dorp of Bot River, a well-known haven for wine pioneers and mavericks. Its 14 wine farms (most of them family-owned and run) produce world-class wines, and on 22 April 2017, they’re inviting you to join them as they celebrate the 2017 harvest at this year’s Barrels & Beards Festival. During the course of the day the bearded vintners from the participating farms will show off their furry faces. These farms include Anysbos, Barton Vineyards, Beaumont Family Wines, Gabriëlskloof, Genevieve MCC, Goedvertrouw Wine Estate, Luddite Wines, Maremmana Estate, Momento Wines, Paardenkloof Estate, Rivendell Estate, Villion Family Wines and Wildekrans Boutique Wine Estate.
In addition, there’ll be complementary barrel tastings of the latest wines, a delicious farm-to-table Botriviera dinner, wines for sale at cellar-door prices, the Best of Bot Wine Auction of rare and special vintages, and the Beard Parade. Tickets are limited, so book yours at Quicket.
