There’s no shortage of culinary delights in the Stellenbosch region, and the Bottelary Hills Wine Route in particular is home to some wonderful wine estates – Kaapzicht, Mooiplaas, Hazendal, Bellevue and Hartenberg, to name a few. Most of the farms have been family-owned for generations, and that familial feel permeates the area, welcoming visitors from near and far.
So, when we heard that the local farms had teamed up with one of South Africa’s top chefs and acclaimed restauranteur – George Jardine – we went digging for more.
Pop-up lunch and wine fun
On 27 August and 19 November 2017, join George as he rustles up a series of delicious three-course Sunday lunches at one of the farms on the Bottelary Hills Wine Route. Unsurprisingly, both of these feasts will be perfectly paired with a selection of wonderful wines from the region.
For the next instalment in the series, on 27 August 2017, Scotland-born George will take inspiration from his roots, as he serves up a Scottish braai, combining fine fare, the best and freshest locally sourced ingredients and, of course, some top-class wines, too! These delicious lunches are laidback affairs, so even though you’ll be receiving a three-course meal, the vibe will be relaxed and festive.
And, before tucking into your meal, enjoy the warm company of Bottelary Hills’ most talented winemakers. And make sure to purchase a bottle (or crate) of wine to take home with you.

A taste of heritage
