The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel & Spa: Mother’s Day Morning + Afternoon Tea

The graceful, garden-wrapped elegance of The Cellars-Hohenort in Constantia is the perfect place to celebrate Mother’s Day over an elegantly abundant high tea. Serene with a sense of secluded enchantment, The Greenhouse restaurant looks out over trees and woodland plantings, the lawns and paths among the camphor trees inviting you to stroll and explore (before or after tea) to make the most of the glorious setting.

The special Mother’s Day high tea extends over the whole weekend and is served in the morning and the afternoon in the Greenhouse over four leisurely courses. Indulge in appetising savouries of cured salmon with pickled beetroot and dill creme fraîche; roast-beef tataki with teriyaki; and marinated cucumber with heirloom radish.

The next tempting array includes a smoked-tomato-essence tart with basil and Parmesan; peppered mackerel croquette with fynbos aioli; roast chicken and kataifi cannoli; and burrata-biltong mousse sfogliatella.

Freshly baked scones with jam, butter and chantilly cream are next on the menu, but be sure to leave room for the sweet finale… A layered cake stand of delicate rose and vanilla choux; strawberry and cream macaron; pistachio and lavender madeleine; chocolate and peppermint torte and a carrot and tahini cake.

The feast is accompanied by a selection of loose-leaf Nigiro teas, rooibos and herbal infusions. The exclusive hotel blend of green rooibos with various fruits, flowers, herbs and Liz McGrath rose petals truly conjures a sense of place. There is an option of coffee, if you prefer.
