Deon Meyer Mystery Tours

Deon Meyer Mystery Tours

Visit murder scenes, assassination viewpoints, and famous landmarks in these thrilling murder-mystery tours of Cape Town.

Have you ever wished you could dive into the pages of your favourite novel or step into the protagonist’s shoes? Well, now you can – with Deon Meyer Mystery Tours!

Meyer mystery moments

Conceived by Dave van Asche while reading one of Deon Meyer’s thrillers, these audio-visual tours allow you to delve into the Mother City’s criminal underbelly.

You’ll seek out key scenes from Meyer’s best-selling thrillers – Thirteen Hours, 7 Days, Cobra and Icarus – visit assassination points and murder scenes, and explore some Cape Town landmarks, such as Table Mountain and Bo-Kaap, discovering even more about these thrilling novels along the way.

The tours run daily from Tuesday to Sunday, and take approximately three hours to complete, with the Grand Café and Beach the start and end point. (Free secure parking is provided for tour participants.)

Stepping out

You’re advised to wear comfortable walking shoes – but don’t worry too much about bad weather because the tours will mostly take place in the tour vehicle and most stops offer shelter or indoor seating.

Deon Meyer Mystery Tours cost R600, which covers transportation, as well as a snack and beverage to be enjoyed at the tour’s halfway mark.

As an added bonus, once a month, a random lucky tour participant will walk away with a personalised signed copy of any Deon Meyer book of their choice (provided they can win the on-tour quiz).
