Exhibition: Samesyn – Coming Together

An exhibition of hand-printed limited-edition lithographs from Conrad Botes, Anton Kannemeyer and Claudette Schreuders at Culture Urban + Contemporary Gallery until 3 May 2014.

Growing up during apartheid, these three artists produced work that captured a critical period in our country’s contentious past. Confronting issues of race, religion, identity and politics, Botes and Kannemeyer created political satire in their BitterKomix series, while Schreuders’ work focused on ordinary South Africans and their individual struggles within their wider community.

Now, decades later, an exhibition of these three artists’ work is a trip down memory lane, which promises to be nostalgic, hopeful and still subversive.

The exhibition opens on 26 March at 6pm.
