Fairview Goat Run 2023: A Fundraising Trail Event

Fairview’s annual Goat Run is a fundraising fixture on the family farm’s calendar. The Paarl Mountain slopes around and above the estate provide a picturesque network of trails to enjoy the spring scenery, and with routes ranging from 5 km to 28 km, it’s an event both for dedicated trail runners and family fresh air and fun seekers.

Adventurous mountain goats

Trail runners can expect a real treat of a route, climbing out from vineyards onto the fynbos slopes and upper areas of the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve. The more adventurous “goat runners” taking on the challenging 15km and 28km options will summit the striking Paarl Rock, earning mountain goat status.

Fun in nature for all abilities

For those seeking a more relaxed fun excursion into nature, a beautiful 5km trail to walk or run rises to the occasion, taking in the scenery and views. And there’s a special category called Daniel and Friends, for other-abled participants of all ages to enjoy a wheelchair-friendly and equally beautiful 5km route on the day (one entry fee for the other-abled participant includes someone to push the wheelchair or buggy).

Fun(d)raising

You’ll be running for a good cause. Fairview donates the funds raised to local charities in desperate need of support: Drakenstein Hospice; Sunflower Fund; Daniel and Friend’s Fund; and Jurie du Toit Autism Centre.

Farm fun

Fairview will be en fête for the day with live music, spot prizes, and all its renowned farm-to-fork food, deli treats, award-winning wines and craft beer on offer (and it’s the perfect time of year to see the playful goat kids scampering up the spiral ramp of the iconic goat tower).
