The V&A Waterfront’s Good Night Fridays concert series goes digital with some of the countries’ coolest entertainers this Friday evening.

The high-energy hub of the harbourside at night is what Cape Town’s premier attraction, the V&A Waterfront, is so famous for; and it’s what Good Night Fridays are all about. This concert series sees live entertainment by SA’s top artists and DJs, art exhibitions and food tastings spread across the Waterfront.

While venturing outdoors might be off limits for the foreseeable future, that’s not stopping the V&A Waterfront from putting on a show, and bringing Good Night Fridays to you.

Good Night Fridays goes digital

This Friday, 8 May 2020, the V&A is inviting art and music lovers across the world to tune into its Collaboration Edition online concert – the last concert in the series – live streaming from 7pm to 8.30pm.

The lineup

Popular rapper YoungstaCPT is teaming up with well-known DJ and producer Sir Vincent, who
will act as MC for the night. They’ll be joined by talented graffiti artist Skubalisto, who’ll be creating one of his masterpieces during the show.

Youngsta CPT has 30 mixtapes and numerous EPs and accolades under his belt, and is regarded as one of the most important South African emcees of this generation.

Sir Vincent is a DJ, producer, social entrepreneur and speaker, who performed a Boiler Room set with Black Coffee in Amsterdam, and founded the first DJ academy in Khayelitsha called Jump Start Music Academy.

Skubalisto aka “Skumbuzo Vabaza” is a visual artist known for his contemporary expressionist style. His mediums range from spray paint, acrylic, oil pastel, charcoal and ink.

Support local

The V&A Waterfront has been home to Cape Town’s vibrant and talented busker community for over 20 years, and has provided them with a public platform to earn a living. Since lockdown, the V&A has been providing financial support to their buskers to cover the loss of earnings from passing visitors.

While the concert is free, viewers are invited to make a donation. Funds raised will go towards assisting the busker community. You can make a donation here, or by scanning the QR code available during the concert.
