The annual home décor extravaganza is back with a bang and, as always, promises to bring all your Pinterest board dreams to life. Taking place from 29 August to 1 September 2019 at the CTICC, the Homemakers Expo is one of the largest home interiors events in the country, giving visitors an opportunity to browse and buy the best in décor, design and lifestyle products.
Inspiration, inside and out
Whether you’re planning a garden redesign, considering an interior facelift or looking for beautiful handcrafted furnishings for your home, the Homemakers Expo is the best place to start.
Watch the live home-DIY and cooking tutorials in the Tuis | Home Theatre, shop for bespoke décor, furniture and fabrics at Interior Spaces, as well as locally handcrafted homeware, ceramics, art, custom jewellery and leather goods in the Truly Artisan section.
Tech types will love exploring the latest audio and visual technology at Tafelberg AV Emporium, while budding builders will feel right at home at The WODC Concrete Workshop, after which they can browse a selection of unique concrete-dipped products at The Concrete Shop, sold in aid of DARG. And for aspiring landscape architects, don’t miss the garden décor, furniture and tools at Outside.
Building up an appetite
There’s no need to explore the expo on an empty stomach – visit the dedicated food and drink section to enjoy a selection of gourmet goodies (complete with guided tastings and foodie discussions). Wash it all down with some of the best Cape wines and handcrafted beer and gins, at d’Vine Life, and see how it’s really done at The Kitchen, which offers an exciting programme of demonstrations by lifestyle guru Izelle Hoffman.
Says Sandy Edwards, Homemakers Expo Cape Town organiser : “Regardless of your age, type of home, requirements or dreams, we’ll have it all at the show. Whether a shopper, inspiration-seeker or DIY enthusiast, it’s all about real homes for real people!”
Good to know Cape Town Homemakers Expo, in association with Hill’s Pet Nutrition and Domestic Animal Rescue Group (DARG), have launched a Design, Art and Textile Design ComPETition – with over R50 000 in prize money – to assist domestic animals and reward local designers. Look out for the top 15 finalists on display at the Expo.
