As new leaves unfurl on the vines around Stellenbosch and spring turns into summer, our thoughts turn to rosé… so it’s perfect timing for a magical garden party at The Vine Bistro in celebration of Glenelly Estate’s Le Rosé de May. Gather on the garden-fringed terrace, overlooking the gentle vine-clad slopes of the estate and the Simonsberg mountain beyond, as the skies turn rosy-hued for the occasion. Glasses chink, music plays and the mood is mellow as summer stretches out her fingertips.
New season flavours
Chef Christophe Dehosse and team have devised a palate-delighting menu of tapas dishes bursting with new-season flavours to accompany the fine Glenelly rosé and white wines being poured throughout the evening. As always he reimagines French bistro classics with a modern twist, laced with generous, flavour-packed élan. Think chilled pea and mint soup with goat’s cheese; pissaladières; artichoke barigoule and fennel salad; spring lamb navarin; lemon posset; and granadilla choux among many other delicious canapés and small plates.
Le Rosé de May
Inspired by the classic rosé wines of Provence, Le Rosé de May is blush-hued with refreshing notes of pomegranate, aromas of wild strawberries and sweet spices. Named for the owner of the estate, May de Lencquesaing, the first sip of this 100% syrah rosé evokes nostalgia for summer days past, the long luxurious mouthfeel perfect for sipping throughout warm evenings.
Coinciding with Stellenbosch Garden Town Week, this special occasion invites you to a sunset wander among the vines, before settling in, glass in hand on the terrace, for a delicious evening of great wine, fabulous food and excellent company.
