Live music and picnics at Vergenoegd Wine Estate

A day in the country with live music, delicious wine and an outdoor feast. Yay summer!

Vergenoegd Wine Estate has become a weekend favourite, with a range of exciting activities for the whole family. Apart from a weekly Saturday market, the daily duck parade, vintage-wine tastings and olive oil and coffee-blending workshops, the farm has added Sunday concerts to its list of must-dos.

The concerts – dubbed Live@Vergenoegd – started in November and continued throughout summer, with the final concert happening on 2 April 2017, headlined by the talented Matthew Mole.

As you already know, there’s nothing better than enjoying delicious food and wine in the great outdoors (when the Cape Town weather is playing along). So, when you arrive at the farm stock up some tasty, market-style goods (including gourmet burgers and cheese platters) and a bottle or two of Vergenoegd wine, and throw down a blanket. The farm offers everything, so there is no need to bring your own food – no picnic baskets are allowed. But, by all means bring some fold-up chairs, an umbrella, and cushions for added comfort. And, of course, the little ones, as they’ll have their very own play corner.

Feel like splurging? Go the VIP route, and have everything taken care of. The R1 100 VIP package includes two tickets to the concert, VIP parking, comfy seating, use of private toilets, and access to the main concert area. And, of course, a picnic hamper with two bottles of Vergenoegd Runner Duck wine, and an exclusive blending voucher for your next visit to the estate. In the hamper you’ll find: a 750ml bottle of water (still or sparkling), biltong, roasted nuts, a cold meat selection, freshly baked ciabatta, olives, a selection of dips, a selection of cheeses, chicken breasts, seasonal chef’s salad, dessert of the day.

Gates open at 12pm, with the opening act commencing at 2.30pm followed by the headlining act at 4pm. The evening ends at 6pm after a fun and chilled day.
