An extension of the ever-popular First Thursdays, Museum Night returns to the city centre.

If, like us, you have the best intentions of visiting Cape Town’s vast array of museums and galleries, but just never get around to doing it, now is your chance to explore the cultural centres in and around the Company’s Garden – for free, nogal – on 21 February 2019.

Participating museums:

Iziko South African National Gallery
Iziko South African Museum + Planetarium
South African Jewish Museum
District Six Museum
Iziko Slave Lodge
Cape Town Holocaust Centre
The Old Granary
SA Sendinggestig Museum
A4 Arts Foundation
Muller’s Museum

How it works

Simply show up at the Garden between 5pm and 10pm, where you will be given a map and an information booklet, allowing you to explore the museums at your own pace and in whatever order you like (especially since they’re all in walking distance). Each museum offers a unique programme of events, including shows, exhibitions and performances. So bring along friends and family and immerse yourself in a night of Cape Town culture.

Free Night at the Museum

Keep it free

To help keep Museum Night free to the public, they’re asking for donations (of R100 or more). Rewards will be given to donors, which include tote bags, exclusive tours, and having your names printed in the programmes – patron-of-the-arts-style! Donors will also stand the chance to win an art museum membership bundle.
