With harvest season underway, there’s hardly a better place to celebrate than in the picturesque Paarl Winelands? On Saturday, 2 March 2019, Nederburg is swinging its doors wide open, inviting wine-lovers, friends and families to celebrate the rich history of the region, and enjoy the fruits of the harvest.
Previously known as the Ommiberg Harvest Celebration, the day promises to be a combination of time-honoured traditions and exciting, modern-day activities. A yoga class on the lawn overlooking the historic manor house, vineyards and dramatic Drakenstein Mountains is a fitting way to ease guests into the festivities. Thereafter guests are free to picnic on the lawns before putting their connoisseurship to the test tasting young wines.
Wine tours, stomping and bouncy castles
Eager to learn more about the wine-making process? Do a complimentary guided tour of the wine cellar, Manor House and Old Cellar Museum. You’ll even be able to try your hand (er, feet) at grape-stomping.
Under 18s are free to partake in a variety of lawn games, including bouncy castles, bumper cars and sand art throughout the day. And to top off the day, entertainment comes courtesy of Kaleidoskoop and BrotherBrother.
While you’re at Nederburg, take advantage of some of the farm’s wonderful experiences, such as the wine tasting, wine-and-cheese pairing, or a dessert-wine pairing with sweet delights. The ice-cream pairing is also a fun one to try on a sunny day. Enquire about the prices of the different tastings and pairings from The Visitors’ Centre staff.
Lunch is served
Feel like something more sophisticated? The famed Red Table Restaurant will be cooking selected dishes from its à la carte menu from 11am until 4pm, accompanied by Nederburg’s award-winning range of wines. We recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
