Come one, come all – the Family Festival at Perdeberg Cellars in Paarl is back for its 10th year – with all you require for a festive family day out. Based in the foothills of the Paardeberg Mountain, Perdeberg Cellars adopted its name for the mountain zebra that once roamed the area and were mistaken for wild horses by the Dutch settlers. Although you won’t spot any zebra nowadays, you might catch a glimpse of Merlot, the striking Perdeberg Zebra mascot at the festival.
Activities for all
When we say there are activities for the whole family, we’re not kidding. Perdeberg’s impressive lineup will appeal to young and old alike. Activities for the day include:
- A family fun trail run with Run The Vines that takes place before the event. The trail is optional and festival-goers can choose between 5km and 10km route.
- Special performances by popular local musicians Nic Stevens, Viljoen Retief and Newton & Co.
- Kids’ activities such as fun-fair rides.
- Tasting stations, with Perdeberg wine, beer and bubbly on offer.
Of course, there’ll be an array of good stuff to eat and drink, courtesy of the farm’s newly opened restaurant, Eat @ Perdeberg, where Chef Rob Hahn will be serving a selection of family-style dishes for festival-goers. There’ll also be a wide variety of food trucks on the day offering delicious bites to eat. With such a variety on offer, there’s sure to be something that appeals to everyone.
Good to know Rugby fans, fret not: The quarter final match of the Rugby World Cup will be screened in the Chenin Hall on the day.
