A month-long journey of cheese!
The beloved SA Cheese Festival is back after a two-year break, and the organisers truly are spreading the love this year – in the form of two fabulous pop-up picnics over two weekends in April, each one in a different destination.
Fans of fromage can look forward to a mind-boggling range of cheeses to try and buy (local, international, artisanal), top-quality wine and other tipples to pair them with, as well as an array of other picnic goodies to fill your basket. On the day, there’ll also be a selection of free entertainment and activities, top local musicians providing the soundtrack, as well as a Travel & Taste experience sponsored by Standard Bank, led by local chefs and foodies – all in beautiful, comfortable surroundings.
Weekend 1: West Coast
All roads lead to the Darling hills for the third pair of pop-up picnics on 23 and 24 April. Historic Groote Post Vineyards offers that unique Swartland country hospitality, where visitors can enjoy the area’s wines, craft beers and gins, along with delicious artisanal fare on spacious green lawns. Die Heuwels Fantasties will provide the soundtrack on Saturday, while Francois van Coke & Die Gevaar will play on Sunday.
