The Secret Garden 2018: A Pop-Up Market in Constantia

Situated on the sprawling lawns of a private residential home in Constantia, the Secret Garden Market is back! After closing its gates for a well-deserved winter hibernation, the garden welcomes guests once again for a Spring Celebration on Saturday, 29 September. Visitors will be treated to 64 top-notch local traders, offering artisanal food and drink, boutique fashion and homeware, and much, much more.

The set-up

With bedouin tents, blanketed picnic areas, hammocks, acoustic live music, as well as a children’s area (run by a childminder), the market promises to be loads of fun for the whole family.

A variety of vendors (such as Holy Macaroni and Boulevard 82) will be dishing out street food, and on the fashion front, expect a selection of stalls selling bespoke and artisanal crafts, homeware and fashion. Chilled live acoustic tunes will provide the soundtrack, after which you can settle down for a G&T and a plate of oysters – or a beer and a burger if that’s more your thing.

The secret’s out

Other than the hidden driveway and a few other surprises that will be revealed on the day, a big part of the secret is the market’s spontaneous dates, which are only released six weeks before each event. Sadly, no pets are allowed. But, everybody else is invited to make themselves at home, and enjoy the music and magic.
