Cape Town has First Thursdays, and Stellenbosch has First Fizzdays! Simonsig Wine Estate, one of South Africa’s top producers of Méthod Cap Classique, introduces this monthly food-and-lifestyle concept to the winelands. The estate’s lawns are transformed into a festive space, with Simonsig’s, Kaapse Vonkel Brut Rosé and Kaapse Vonkel Brut taking centre stage.
The killer views – of the Simonsig Mountains on one side and Table Mountain on the other – are fabulous all day, but particularly at sunset. Cuvée Restaurant’s chef, Stephanie de Wet, will be serving tapas to accompany the MCCs (on sale at a reduced price for the evening), as well as oysters on ice.
Live music adds to the festive atmosphere, with talented duo Jack & Black (performing renditions of popular pop and rock songs) making a regular appearance.
