Constantia Valley magic for all the family.

On the far edge of the Constantia wine valley, where manicured indigenous gardens, sprawling lawns and vineyards meet the fynbos-clad Silvermine mountains, Steenberg Farm offers a 300-hectare slice of idyllic countryside. There’s history aplenty (it was the very first Cape Town farm), but also a modern sensibility, with stylish yet relaxed offerings for visitors. Whether you’re staying for the whole weekend or enjoying a lunch-time escape from the city, it’s an idyllic setting for a family Easter celebration.

Steenberg Easter Tryn

This Easter there’s a lavish lunch at Tryn (the signature restaurant on the werf) and a magical Easter egg hunt that will keep the kids happy and engaged while the adults linger over a long lunch.

Easter Sunday lunch

Steenberg Easter Food

Tryn is the estate’s flagship restaurant, known for elevating favourite foods with modern flair, using sustainably sourced local ingredients and adding a worldly twist. Chef Kerry Kilpin has put together a divine Easter lunch of three courses with options – plus amuse bouche, hot cross buns, a sorbet palate cleanser, a chocolate truffle and a glass of Steenberg chardonnay cap classique.

For starters, choose between crispy kataifi prawns with charred pineapple salad salsa; an Abalobi fish tartare with calamari and pickled shimeji; or a goats’ cheese and pear tart with rich fruit flavours. Then move on to mains of grilled fish with cauliflower purée and artichoke velouté; a chargrilled cauliflower with artichoke and shallot purée; or flame-grilled beef with duck-fat potatoes and black truffle jus.

The final course presents an impossible choice: a sublime chocolate sphere that is total chocoholic decadence; a fruity ensemble (lime, berries, yuzu and meringue); or a mind-bending savoury cheesecake with basil and tomato macaroons and maple bacon and tomato gel.

Steenberg Easter Egg Hunt

Children under 12 can choose two courses from a separate à la carte menu, including calamari, noodles, steak and chips and ice cream. And while you linger over your lunch on the view-drenched terrace or in the luxurious dining room, the kids can head off (complete with fluffy bunny ears and velvet basket) on a scenic Easter egg hunt along vine-covered paths and secret garden nooks outside Tryn.
