A seductive culinary journey.
It’s firmly rooted in the heart and history of the Mother City, but the moment you step into Taj Cape Town’s Bombay Brasserie, you’ll be whisked away on a culinary odyssey to India. The warm ambience of gleaming brass, rich peacock colours, glittering chandeliers and flickering candlelight exudes an aura of exotic romance (Bombay Brasserie was recently voted the city’s most romantic date-night destination for good reason), and the fragrant spice-flecked dining extravaganza is guaranteed to set all your senses alight. For Valentine’s Day the chefs at both Bombay Brasserie and Mint have curated an even more seductive culinary journey.
The signature restaurant’s inspiration comes from the buzzing, multicultural Indian city of its name, Mumbai, while the menu combines Indian cooking styles and ingredients from all over the sub-continent with local influences. The special Valentine’s Day dinner is a 7-course multisensory affair served with (as always) the polished presentation of a elevated-dining experience.
A spice-flecked ode to romance
Weaving a captivating love story all the way through, the Valentine’s menu starts with an elegantly laid table of nibbles, including delicately spiced nuts and seeds, rainbow naan chips and a pineapple and avocado dip, followed by an amuse bouche of Knysna oyster chaat to awaken your palate. Then a trio of starters includes murgh nawabi (saffron-scented chicken from the clay oven); butter lamb chops (Tandoori braised to tenderness); and Goan lobster balchao (crayfish spiced with tamarind and coconut vinegar).
After a playfully palate-cleansing and zesty Banta soda sorbet, your mains usher in a symphony of flavours: butter chicken, Shahi lamb korma sheermal and chilgoza pyaaz pulao (fragrant rice with pine nuts and caramelised onions). A basket of naan breads include the flavours of spiced figs and fenugreek to add to the spread.
Blueberry cham cham (a Bengali milk sweet) and a flourless chocolate halwa slice feature on the dessert plate, and a petit four pan shooter (of betel leaves and herbs) makes for a refreshing finale.
A Valentine’s Buffet at Mint
Love also takes centrestage at Mint Restaurant & Wood-Fired Grill, where a globe-trotting buffet feast and the soft flicker of candlelight promises an evening of romance, indulgence, and exceptional flavours. With stations devoted to antipasti and salads; an Asian section of hand-rolled sushi, dim sum and chow mein; a carvery of succulent wood-fired beef sirloin and freshly caught seafood; a curry buffet of five different curries and naan bread; and even an Italian section with pasta served in a whole parmesan wheel; there really is something for everyone to love. And the abundant dessert buffet, with 12 swoonworthy confections to choose among, puts the finishing touch to an evening of culinary delight
There’s no better place to spice things up this Valentine’s.
