September in sunny South Africa is heritage month. And we all know what that means: braai time! Very few things beat braaing with friends and family, especially when you don’t have to clean up after everyone.
Which is why we were rather pleased to hear about the #TasteSunshine Braai Day (in association with wine.co.za) at The Shed in Stellenbosch on Heritage Day.
How does it work?
All you have to do is book your tickets online (no ticket sales on the day), arrive, with your braaivleis (yes, it’s BYOM), picnic goodies and a few buddies in tow; and the organisers will take care of the rest: the venue, seating, entertainment, juice and popcorn for the kids and, of course, a fabulous atmosphere.
While the fires are being lit, let the little members of your crew run around on the lawn, play some fun games, and engage in a candle-dipping session. And, as the meat is sizzling and veggies browning, soak up the sun, and the relaxing sounds provided by Strings Attached and Helderberg’s Suiderkruismis choral and instrumental group.
Wine, naturally, will be flowing – a sterling selection of wine.co.za’s commemorative 21st wines, top chenins and pinotages – while the Sisonke Social Circus juggle, unicycle, and do some awesome aerial performances.
And, if you thought you’d missed dessert, fear not! The Lucky Bean and Pebbles Project stands will be serving some tasty treats and ice cream, while Merkava will be offering coffee.
You will be part of a massive worldwide tasting of South African wines taking part on the day. Post your best pics of the day with your wines – using #tastesunshine – and you could win some awesome prizes! For more info, visit their website.
