Vrede en Lust: Easter Celebrations in the Winelands

With its historic Cape Dutch manor, beautiful old farm buildings and spread of formal gardens, lawns and vineyard paths, Vrede en Lust makes a picturesque backdrop for any Easter celebration. Lunch at Savoye

Their Savoye restaurant looks out over lawns and gardens to the Manor House. For Easter there’ll be kids activities (and a bouncy castle) on the lawn during lunch. You’ll be issued with Easter eggs on arrival and invited to create your own Easter egg hunt around the gardens (should you wish) as you linger over the special three-course Easter set menu.

For starters choose between pork rillette with bruschetta; panko prawns and avocado pâté; and a caprese salad with buffalo mozzarella. Mains include seared sesame tuna; bbq pork belly; and broccoli and sesame udon. A hot-cross-bun sundae or cinnamon-and-date bowl are the sweetly spiced desserts. Kids can choose between Hawaiian pizza or a cheese-and-tomato toastie with chips.

If you’ve ever wondered how best to pair a wine with your Lindt chocolate bunny, this limited-edition Easter wine-and-chocolate pairing at the contemporary tasting room has the answer. The tasting experience includes the estate’s Sarah bubbly with a white-chocolate mango-and-cream truffle; Pinot Noir and a milk-chocolate truffle with a taste of grapefruit; and its flagship blend, Boet Erasmus, with a Lindt 60% dark chocolate bunny.

Hot-cross-bun-flavoured ice cream!

Lust Bakery and Bistro has deservedly gained a reputation for its fabulous breads and baked goods, so it’s the place to pop into to satisfy your hot cross bun cravings. In addition to her famous artisanal hot cross buns, chef Cass Zulch has devised a hot-cross-bun-flavoured ice cream to end off a meal in Easter style.
