Cape Town just can’t seem to get enough of fresh, raw and super-healthy food, and thanks to the arrival of Scheckter’s Raw – conveniently located in a sunny spot on the Fresnaye side of Regent Road, you’re spoilt for choice.
Health food never tasted so good
From lipsmackingly good buckwheat granola breakfast pots (literally brimming with loads of banana and raw cacao) to sprouted Essene bread with an array of toppings, it doesn’t really matter what you order – you’ll be thoroughly nourished, amazed that healthy food can taste this good, and no doubt be back the very next day.
In fact, after tucking into breakfast and washing it down with a smoothie (we can highly recommend the berry and almond one – it’s sheer creamy bliss!), it’s all too tempting to order a takeaway lunch, too. The yummy raw zucchini spirals with an avo pesto hits the spot, and there’s a chickpea wrap that’ll sort out any mid-afternoon slump in a flash. Be sure to stock up on some homemade almond milk while you’re at it too!
Then there’s the vibe…
Owner Toby Scheckter and his friendly team are part and parcel of the atmosphere, and happily share the health benefits of the meals on offer. What’s more, if you’re a fussy eater (and let’s face it, Cape Town’s health nuts are notoriously picky!), your whims are seamlessly accommodated when you want to adapt a meal to your liking.
The proof of the pudding…
Scheckter’s guilt-free goodies are almost too good to be true – from a delectable Snickers Smoothie to raw dairy-free sweet treats, and loads more. But for a caffeine fiend like me, it was the seriously yummy coffee (organic, of course) that blew me away. Without any hint of acidity, it’s strong and smooth in equal measure.
Scheckter’s Raw is the perfect pitstop before or after workouts, a glorious weekend brunch haunt, and just the ticket for an all-day enclave to get some work done, fuelled by healthy fare. But don’t take our word for it … Just have a look at the calibre of their clientiele: Jeannie D is a regular – a sure sign that Scheckter’s is doing something right.
