GUILD joins Zeitz MOCAA in The Silo District

GUILD International Design Fair 2014, Adriaan Louw

The epicentre of the Cape Town art and design scene welcomes GUILD.

When it comes to showcasing the best-of-the-best South African design and art, nobody does it better than the Guild Group, whose co-founders and -owners Trevyn and Julian McGowan are the brains behind a string of exciting design-related brands, such as Source, Southern Guild Gallery, Business of Design, and so on.

Which is why, art and design junkies, will be thrilled to know that in June 2017, they’re bringing an exciting new design destination to The Silo District in the form of GUILD – touted to be their most exciting Cape Town prospect yet!

In Good Company

A multi-faceted venue, GUILD will house an in-house studio, concept store, furniture range, as well as a gallery space, adding yet another ground-breaking element to the already feted Silo District.

It will certainly be in good company, what with local luxury labels Kat van Duinen and Kirsten Goss opening flagship stores there, too. And, of course, the hotly anticipated Zeitz MOCAA (Museum of Contemporary Art Africa), which officially opens in September 2017.

Conceptualise this

GUILD is set to become a concept-driven experience, with bespoke items (available for purchase), alongside contemporary and limited-edition furniture, and great exhibitions, featuring international galleries.

Under The Guild Group’s creative director, Tammy Tinker, GUILD Concept will present a selection of fresh and intriguing must-have items (including jewellry, accessories, gifts, and more), with seasonal ranges from leading Cape Town manufacturers, who specialise in everything from fine art to fashion and furniture design.

Nearby, GUILD Studio will provide production furniture by top South African designers, such as Gregor Jenkin, Meyer von Wielligh and Dokter and Misses, with Julian McGowan’s own in-house range leading the pack.

Gallery at Guild

Southern Guild in Woodstock is closing its doors, and moving to The Silo District, bringing with it highly curated exhibitions and solo presentations from globally acclaimed artists and designers – such as Adam Birch, Charles Haupt, Hamed Ouattara and Porky Hefer, to name a few.
