Taking inspiration from the Cuban concept of paladar, which sees homeowners inviting guests into their homes for delicious homemade food, La Petite Mort is one such place in the Mother City.
Self-taught chefs and owners, André and Morné open their Bo-Kaap home to between 16 and 20 guests every second Saturday for a lovingly made three-course meal with wine pairings. The intimate space is great for groups of friends, or even someone hoping to make some new ones.
The menu is decided on by the chefs and is based on a theme such as September’s Spring and West Coast menus and August’s Mission Chinese and Serve it Forth menus. The theme and courses are revealed a week before the dinner date. Those with special dietary requirements can be catered for when requested.
