Mink & Trout has joined the buzzing Bree Street food ranks! You’ll find it in the same spot that was home to the now-defunct Birds Café, having undergone a complete make-over with a brand-new concept in tow. It is named for its hands-on chef-owners, Leigh Trout and Kevin Mink, who work from the open kitchen.
The menu offers a selection of lunch and dinner options, made using seasonal ingredients that can be tweaked, for dietary requirements, if you notify the staff, who provide good service.
Mink & Trout has an entirely different look and feel to its quainter predecessor, with a prevailing chic olive-green theme (as seen on its neat menus and interior walls), quirkily cool light hangings, exposed-brick walls, and bar area as you enter.
The tasty food is served on lovely plates – made from earth and clay at The Potter’s Gallery, Kleinmond – and the substantial, though not over-filling, portions are tastefully presented.
We recommend the divinely delicious Flourless Chocolate Torte dessert (R50) as a sweet treat after either the Caesar Salad (R79) or Gnocchi (R120).
